Prime360 Transportation Coordinator in Schaumburg, Illinois

Overview:

The Transportation Coordinator will manage all purchased transportation functions for Northwest Pallet Services including developing new carrier sources, conducting bids, and selecting carriers. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to create procurement solutions that meet service and cost expectations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Source and procure transportation services through negotiation on a spot or transactional basis while meeting individual and Company financial goals

  • Prospect and cultivate new carrier leads to establish capacity

    Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective transportation service providers

  • Manage all daily requests for transportation services from internal stakeholders including National Sales, Business Development, and Regional Operations teams

  • Assist National Sales and Business Development teams with large, multi-lane projects where dedicated trucking is required.

  • Ensure timely pickup and delivery of customer freight

    React with sense of urgency to solve problems and look for ways to improve operational inefficiencies. These may include damaged products and late or lost deliveries.

  • Work with Accounting team to resolve freight discrepancies

  • Analyze historical data and freight costs and recommend continuous improvement opportunities and optimal methods of transportation.

  • Communicate current transportation market information to internal stakeholders

    Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in carrier procurement and logistics/operations from a fast-paced freight brokerage environment

  • Expertise in truckload, intermodal, and LTL modes of transportation

  • Knowledge of carrier compliance requirements, policies and procedures.

  • Strong ability to negotiate

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills with ability to multitask

  • Highly effective communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines in a rapidly changing environment

  • Enthusiasm and high energy

  • Continuous improvement and problem-solving mindset

  • Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment; consult with team members and management as needed

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Access)

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
