The primary responsibility of the Associate Solutions Architect is to work with colleagues to learn how to consult with clients and develops the skill to create strategies, transformational designs and the architectural vision for small solutions that address the clients’ needs. They assist with the implementation of the best design for information technology architectures and related solution architecture descriptions.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of more senior solution architects, assists with the development of small-scale, less complex solution architectures in specific business, infrastructure, or functional areas.

  • Assists with projects related to software and systems design.

  • Participates with colleagues to understand client requirements, collect data, delivering analysis and problem resolution.

  • Continuously monitors the external environment to gather intelligence on emerging technologies.

  • Assists with the creation of reports and technology roadmaps.

  • Works under guidance to design components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns, and methodology.

  • Learn how to manage proof of concept initiatives.

  • Reviews, verifies, and improves own designs against specifications.

  • Assist with the definition of meta-architectural designs for low complexity or smaller solutions.

  • Develop a good relationship with key stakeholders, internally and externally.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

  • Some knowledge of multi-vendor service integrations and cross-functional software, OS’s and infrastructure designs

  • Good communication skills both verbal and written

  • Knowledgeable on how specific infrastructures and application software are deployed in line with relevant methodologies and frameworks

  • Knowledge of project management principles

  • Knowledge of reference architectures

  • Ability to maintain knowledge of trends and development in technology domains

  • Ability to learn new concepts and apply them in the working environment

  • Client service orientation

  • Self-starter, proactive in approach

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Qualification in Information Technology or Information Systems

  • Certification and working knowledge of Enterprise Architecture methodologies (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman, SOA, ITIL, COBIT, etc.)

  • SAFe Scaled Agile certification advantageous

Required Experience:

  • Basic experience working with stakeholders across a variety of levels internally and externally

  • Basic experience in a similar role would be advantageous but not essential

  • Basic experience working as a Technical Architect in a particular technology domain would be advantageous but not essential
