Kaniksu Community Health Summer Camp Teacher in Sandpoint, Idaho
Kaniksu Community Health is a non-profit, award winning Community Health Center that provides integrated, team-based healthcare in north Idaho.
The Kaniksu Community Health Kid's Club provides affordable on-site childcare to the children of our team members. Our Kid's Club, which is housed in a newly opened, purpose built, state of the art building, provides a fun, safe, nurturing environment where children between the ages of 0-5years are encouraged to learn and develop key skills through play based activities. Our Kid's Club also offers a Summer Camp for school aged children up to 10 years old.
At Kaniksu Community Health, we are proud to have built a positive and engaged team with a 'family' spirit. Our team of dedicated Childcare teachers provide a child centric approach to care in accordance with appropriate Idaho state provider: child ratio requirements.
We are seeking high energy, enthusiastic and responsible Summer Camp Teacher. This role will play a vital role in creating a safe and enjoyable environment for children attending our summer camp.
As a Summer Camp Teacher at the KCH Kid's Club, a typical day may include:
Provide basic needs for children
Supervise and engage with children during daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being
Lead age-appropriate games and activities including arts and crafts and walking field trips
Prepare for a very structured full day of activities for children ages 5-10 years
Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions among the children
Develop and maintain positive communication and relationships with children and parents
Provide appropriate supervision for children at all times
Maintain inventory system for classroom materials and supplies
First aid: must have a good knowledge of child safety requirements and be up-to-date on first aid protocol.
· Establish and enforce rules of behavior for children
Experience Needed to Land this Gig:
High School or equivalent required
18 years or older
Love working with children of all ages
Experience working with children with special needs would be advantageous, however not essential
Ability to work with children and remain friendly, calm, and patient at all times
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to set rules and guidelines for children to follow
Solid organizational skills and ability to maintain a tidy and neat classroom
Available for 11 weeks
Have CPR/ First aid training (or be willing to complete the required courses)
Please note: This position will require a state and federal background check to be completed and registration with Idaho STARS.

Temporary – June to August 2024
