As a Meeting and Events Manager for Stryker Medical, you will be responsible for creating, delivering, and elevating first class experiences, events, and environments for the division based on the identified needs of our internal stakeholders.

What you will do

  • Develop and implement meeting planning strategy and cadence across Stryker's Medical division in partnership with Director, Customer and Employee Experience.

  • Lead and coach team on the development of detailed program budgets, control documents and tracking information for every program. Complete all required documents and follow policies and procedures to ensure compliance and continuity of all programs.

  • Lead a team of professionals, develop employees, which includes hiring, communicating company policies, coaching and counseling, administering performance appraisals, and enforcing company policies through appropriate disciplinary measures.

  • Set expectation for delivering high quality meetings and programs for Meeting Planning team.

  • Drive a strategic and proactive approach to planning, communication, and outcomes with internal stakeholders, including Medical's divisional and business unit leadership teams, and external partners, to ensure alignment.

  • Oversee and coach team on the development and execution of meeting requirements, plans and schedules that meet identified requirements. Requirements may include invitations, registration, air and ground travel, food and beverage, audio visual, amenity selection, site inspections and selection, billing reconciliation, program evaluations and follow-up with minimal direction.

  • Deliver attendee experiences that generate high levels of engagement, in-person and/or virtually.

  • Lead collaboration across group, division and business units for division meetings (i.e. national sales meeting, mid-year meetings, etc.). Drive consistency and collaboration for functional/team meetings as appropriate.

  • Lead the selection and management of appropriate vendors needed to execute meetings.

  • Create processes, systems and tools for effective meeting planning and evaluation across Stryker's Medical division.

  • Provide high quality, effective meeting planning and onsite support. Mentor team on development in this area.

  • Collect and analyze feedback to provide recommendations for future program enhancements or changes.

What you need

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 8+ years direct work experience in meeting, conference, or special event planning required

  • Experience with contract negotiations with national hotels and vendors preferred

  • Expertise in Sharepoint 365, MS Office, Zoom, Teams preferred

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to navigate matrix environment and strong level of influence

  • Excellent grammar, copywriting, proofreading, and editing skills with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to deliver under tight deadlines and adapt quickly to change

  • Ability to present and speak comfortably in front of others

  • Can be trusted to protect the confidentiality of sensitive information

  • Certified Meeting Planner or qualified to take CMP exam, or equivalent experience preferred but not essential
