Berkshire Community College EDP Systems Analyst: LMS Administrator in Pittsfield, Massachusetts

Reporting to the Dean of Teaching and Learning, the LMS Administrator serves as a key member in Berkshire Community College\'s academic technology efforts. The position is responsible for training and providing support to faculty in their use of a variety of technologies. It would include technology needed by faculty related to teaching and learning and technology used by staff in performing their jobs. This role collaborates with other Teaching and Learning Innovation staff, BCC faculty, and Digital Commons staff in developing equity-minded training and supporting instructional programs on campus. The LMS Administrator serves as the main campus administrator of BCC\'s Learning Management System, Moodle. In addition, the position creates and offers individual, small group and on-demand training and support materials for faculty around the effective use of the college\'s instructional technologies, especially the Learning Management System, Moodle, and navigating the online learning environment. Essential Functions: System Administrator to Teaching & Learning Platform and External Digital Tool Integrations - Manages BCC\'s cloud-based Learning Management System, Moodle and LTIs and other applications used with Moodle. - Serves as primary vendor contact for Moodle and provides front-line system support. - Manages version updates and change requests with vendors. - Works closely with Information Technology to coordinate the platform and vendor relationships. - Administrates additional applications and troubleshoots issues as needed. - Maintains BCC course listings on the Massachusetts Colleges Online (MCO) website by adding new courses and sections when necessary. General On-Demand Technology Support - Addresses technology-related questions and concerns of faculty and staff in a timely manner. - Goes beyond basic solutions to troubleshoot and resolve user issues; works with other support teams on-campus, like IT and Digital Commons, as needed. - Provides one-on-one consultation and training to faculty and students on all aspects of the LMS. Works with faculty to build out their course sites in the LMS. - Demonstrates sensitivity to the user\'s learning needs and technological skill level. - Must be comfortable navigating varying levels of technological skill sets. Faculty and Staff Training - Develops equity-minded trainings, tutorials, user guides and other instructional resources to support faculty in the use of BCC\'s instructional technologies and successfully navigating the online learning environment. - Proactively designs and develops training documentation with step-by-step directions in written and multimedia formats. - Supports faculty in the effective integration of instructional technology into the physical and virtual teaching and learning environment. Research and Development - Keeps current with common and emerging educational technologies. Makes recommendations for effective integration of these technologies within best teaching and learning practices. - Quickly learns and adapts to emerging technology applications on both Mac and Windows platforms. - Seeks out information on new solutions for existing and developing needs. - Collaborates with any department upon request in the development, design, and potential delivery of training materials related to their specific needs. Minimum Training and Experience Bachelor\'s degree, preferably in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, information technology or a related field; 2 years\' experience and/or training involving areas of assignment, which may include educational technologies, instruction, LMS administration and help desk support or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Required Qualifications: 1 - 3 years or more of experience in LMS administration, Moodle preferred, or other LMS platforms, such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Brightspace.
