Position Summary: The Decision Support and Business Analytics Analyst III/Senior reports to the Manager, Business Intelligence and Analytics. Under limited supervision, the Analyst III/ Senior works independently amongst Analytics and greater OCIO team members, stakeholders, and leaders across the enterprise to support decision making, strategy, performance improvement, and other key operational goals through the development of business intelligence tools. This role develops and maintains analytical resources for the organization to support leadership in strategic decision making and ongoing optimization of organizational performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Mentoring:Provide mentorship to team members by coaching them in technical, domain, and general professional competencies.

  • Serve as a technical resource for discipline in cross-functional teams and function as the subject matter expert.

  • Troubleshoot complex reporting issues and recognize when it is necessary to engage EHR TS for resolution.

  • Develop a deep understanding of source system data and other master data elements.

  • Assist in projects involving advanced analytics to improve and optimize organizational performance.

  • Assist peers to resolve complex issues.

  • Perform and coordinate projects with minimal direction.

  • Assist and contribute in projects that require advanced analytics.

  • Assist in efforts to enhance analytics efficiency (automation) and self-service development.

  • Ensure recurring reporting responsibilities require less than 16 hours or 10% of all available work hours each month for production and distribution.

  • Collaborate with the Analytics team to automate existing manual efforts and enhance self-service tools.

  • Provide consistent high quality customer service for all projects, initiatives and requests from stakeholders

  • Provide timely and professional communications throughout the request-to-delivery production cycle.

  • Ensure deliverables are well-tested, accurate, and reliable.

  • Function in a thoughtful consultative approach that ensures effectiveness of requirements gathering, integration of actively-solicited intermediate feedback during development, and solutions that assist our stakeholders in accomplishing the ultimate goals underlying their request.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (accounting, finance, information systems, statistics, etc.), required.

  • Master’s degree, preferred.

Experience:

  • Six (6) years related work experience required (business intelligence, analytics, report writing).

Special Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills and experience. Ability to “operationalize” data and effectively analyze to communicate and respond to inquiries, data and analytical requests.

  • EHR Certifications in Epic or proficiencies in multiple Epic EHR data models required.

  • Working knowledge of Data Visualization software (i.e., Power BI, Qlik, Tableau), preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of MS SQL Server and SQL transactional query, including SSMS, SSRS, and SSIS preferred.

  • Demonstrated advanced competency with MS Excel (i.e., pivot tables, Excel VBA programming)

  • Familiarity with and understanding of statistical risk modeling and predictive analytics in healthcare.

  • Experience with healthcare industry benchmarking and developing metrics within a performance management framework.

  • Must be able to demonstrate solid analytical skills in terms of ability to identify needed data, analyze the data, and report it in a format that is easily comprehensible to customers.

  • Strong interpersonal; client relations; fact finding; analytical; project management; presentation and communication (written/verbal) skills are needed.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report troubleshooting ability.

  • Impeccable presentation skills and the proven ability to tailor messages appropriately dependent on the specific audience.

  • Proven ability to describe technical solutions to non-technical audiences.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
