Indian Hills Community College Coordinator, Continuing Education - Safety & Transportation in Ottumwa, United States

Job Summary:

Coordinate, develop, implement, market, and evaluate courses for credit, non-credit, continuing education, and customized training programming. This position will lead revenue positive programs for the Continuing Education and Workforce Solutions team and be instrumental in working to ensure credit for prior learning, licensure/certification, continuing education, and customized training programming follow Iowa Code and all regulatory rules.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Associates degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Experience working with the public required, experience developing or teaching community education courses preferred

  • Attention to detail is required, course records must be accurately maintained.

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must have good organizational and time management skills.

  • High degree of written and verbal skills including: interpersonal communications, strong telephone techniques, email communications, writing contracts, correspondence, and state and local reports.

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that may include some evenings and weekends.

  • Strong computer skills required.

Work Performed:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including industry professionals, faculty/staff, and students on projects or courses.

  • Serve as the coordinator for the criminal justice, FIRE, and transportation programs including the law enforcement academies.

  • Main point of contact for the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy for administrative duties and will coordinate the Academy/continuing education courses to meet programmatic outcomes.

  • Sell, schedule, promote, recruit, and evaluate courses to ensure the delivery of robust trainings.

  • Work with area business and industry and IHCC faculty to plan, develop and organize conferences, events and services to meet the needs of workforce credentialing or professional development needs.

  • Hire, manage, and oversee instructors and ensure that all instructors meet appropriate experience and certification requirements as required.

  • Complete new employee paperwork correctly and complete payroll and expense forms and in a timely manner.

  • Maintain class records, comply with federal and state code, guidelines, regulations, and reporting requirements, and prepare state reports as requested.

  • Initiate and administer contracts and complete required paperwork

  • Follow all course/program requirements including but not limited to the Department of Transportation, Department of Public Health, Iowa Code and the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, and Federal motor Carrier Safety Administration.

  • Collaboratively work with ILEA and program faculty to ensure the Basic Level II and Reserve Academy programs follow all ILEA requirements including but not limited to: recruitment, admission paperwork, course scheduling, coordination of instructors/courses,instructor professional development, handbooks, obtain up to date course and lesson plans, course and instructor evaluations, scheduling and coordination of instructors/courses, and routine contact with employers to share recruit progress.

  • Maintain strong public relations with the local community and business and industry partners and take part in community relations when possible.

  • Utilize the ADDIE course development model (analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation) when developing educational offerings. Ensure all courses have appealing and up-to-date descriptions, learning outcomes and evaluations in order toenhance programming.

  • Collaboratively work with the marketing department to market trainings and consulting services to meet customer specifications and needs.

  • Build and nurture collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to promote the growth of educational products and services and schedule courses throughout the Indian Hills 10-county region to meet workforce needs.

  • Collaboratively work with Business Liaisons to sell, develop, administer, and assess industry needs.

  • Develop client relationships and offer Business Solution products and services to local, regional, and state customers.

  • Build courses, assist with registration, invoice businesses, or ensure payment is made, and comply with business office practices and database management.

  • Complete documentation timely within the CRM.

  • Assist in the development of a profitable pricing structure for all programs.

  • Submit travel requests, payroll sheets, expense reports, course contracts, and grade reports accurately and within established timelines.

  • Accept and perform responsibilities that may require work to be performed other than normal assigned hours (night and weekend).

  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Level:

Professional - Exempt - Traditional Funding, at will employment on a letter of employment

Employment Length:

4 terms, full time, benefits

Schedule:

9 hrs/day, Monday - Thursday with some nights and flexible scheduling

Salary Range:

$43,954.00 - 48,680.00
