QUALIFICATIONS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The qualifications/position requirements identified below list the skill level, ability and knowledge required to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/EXPERIENCE

?Associated degree required as Physical Therapy Assistant.

?One to three years hospital physical therapy experience preferred.

?Knowledge of various types of physical therapy equipment in both the inpatient and outpatient areas.

?Must have an Illinois licensure or be eligible for Illinois licensure in Physical Therapy Assistant.

ANALYTICAL ABILITY/PROBLEM SOLVING/CLINICAL TASKS

?Ability to carry out patient exercise programs as directed by a Physical Therapist

?Able to deal with a variety of patient care problems using tact and diplomacy.

?Normal concentration required.

?Able to calibrate various types of physical therapy equipment.

?Ability to communicate effectively with the Physical Therapist.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS (INTERNAL/EXTERNAL)

?Frequent contact with a variety of patient care staff (Nursing Department personnel and physicians).

?Continuous contact with patients and their families.

SUPERVISION

?Directly supervised by Director of Rehab Services and assistant director of Rehab Services

?Does not supervise others but may direct the work of Physical Therapy Aides.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

?Requires physical exertion and coordination.

?Working conditions are generally clean and comfortable.

RESPONSIBILITY ACCOUNTABILITY FOR MONEY, EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS-SAFETY OF OTHERS

?Responsible for patient safety when performing physical therapy exercises on various equipment.

?Responsible for the proper functioning of various types of physical therapy equipment and the patient care area.

?Accountable for the patient outcomes assigned.

?Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age(s) of the patients served on the assigned unit/department,
