GENERAL PURPOSE: The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for organizing and managing the day to day logistical activities for shipping and receiving of the Plant facility. Responsibilities include ensuring
personnel operate efficiently and safely, maximizing loads while minimizing shipping costs, and coordinating with 3rd Party Logistics Companies to ensure on-time delivery of customer products and high customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Coordinate daily dispatch to ensure timely and cost-effective shipment methods
Coordinate and monitor the activities of employees engaged in receiving, shipping, and transporting product and materials; assure production lines are serviced efficiently
Maintain safe working environment through education, training, and continuous Improvement of material handling functions; Identify and correct safety deficiencies
Plan and maintain weekly shipping schedule to ensure on-time pick and delivery of customer
products
Maintain record of counts, quantities and descriptions of inventory being shipped and received
Reconcile all load reports
Identify opportunities to maximize manufactured square footage (MSF) per trailer to increase
utilization of assets and increase cost savings
Review prior day shipping report to confirm shipment with dedicated carriers, customer pickups, and breakdown of MSF to identify opportunities to increase efficiency
Coordinate material staging, shipments, pick and pack order fulfillment, expired inventory
destruction, and raw and customer owned inventory
Maintain working knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations and general routes to
create time efficient shipping schedules
Review customer specifications to determine the most efficient carton size and pallet pricing
Responsible for performing supervisory functions such as training, employee development, performance evaluations, and enforcing company policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Must have minimum 12 months related experience.
Must have knowledge of safety programs.
Must have the ability to read and write complex instructions, correspondences, and memos.
Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Must have strong mathematical skills.
Must have strong verbal and written communications skills.
Must have good decision making and problem solving skills.
Must have basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Must be self-motivated and self-managed.
Must be capable of maintaining good attendance.
Must be able to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
