Description

The Senior Analyst, Pricing position, is responsible for establishing profitable and competitive rates for cargo moving via intermodal transportation by developing, recommending, and implementing pricing strategies and positions. This position is responsible for negotiation with sales and customer service for new rates in line with trade objectives in addition to serving as a subject matter expert and an advisor to the Sales/Trades Directors on pricing strategies.

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Demonstrates subject matter expertise in market, including customer & commodity trade knowledge.

Draft and review rate proposals.

Respond to Request for Quote and bid requests.

Manage timely and accurate preparation of service contracts.

Provide proper interpretation on tariff related matters to avoid misinterpretation and/or inaccuracies of tariff information.

Research and analyze tariff, pricing, bid, and contract related issues and information.

Acts as advisor to Sales/Trade Directors on pricing strategies and tactical implementations, ensuring that recommendations have high probability of success and contribute to revenue stream

Receive, review, process and set rates that meet customer needs and trade objectives, directly work with sales to meet their customers’ rate needs within company guidelines, and gather competitive information.

Perform analysis of Rate/Cost/Competition for bids and contracts.

Provide backup support to the rest of the Pricing team including accessorial and bill preparation activities.

Review and analyze past account performance, costs and revenues to provide suggested avenues for improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related focus or Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated focus with related work experience.

  • Minimum 1 year analytical experience in a transportation-related industry

  • Analytical experience or progressively responsible experience in pricing or equivalent preferred

  • Familiar/ Expertise with industry IT pricing/ contracting platforms

  • Ability to use systematic approach in problem solving through analysis and evaluation or alternative solutions

  • Skilled in the use of logic, mathematics and other problem solving tools in data analysis or in generating solutions

  • Ability to execute individual business decisions consistent with strategy and make decisions on available information, negotiate and make commitments

  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Ability to solve complex problems in Excel, create Macros and present clear and concise reports based on large amounts of complex data.

  • Able to adapt to changing business environment

  • Willingness to travel minimally
