APL Logistics Americas, Ltd Load Planner in Farmington Hills, Michigan
This position is responsible for planning and coordinating the pickup and delivery of shipments as requested by customers. It is the Load Planner responsibility to ensure that every shipment is planned, scheduled, and delivered in the most efficient way possible, while maintaining on-time and customer service standards as expected by both internal and external customers.

Impacted by employee ensuring proper modal and carrier selection and identifying any issues to customer
Shipment accuracy and customer responsiveness
100% accuracy on shipment entry, reflected as no issues with pickup and no customer impact due to delayed response on APLL’s part
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/JOB DUTIES
% OF TIME
Review shipments to determine appropriate transportation mode to meet the customers shipping and delivery requirements, select the most cost effective and service reliable carrier, optimize shipments per business rules
Update information as needed into TMS insuring data accuracy for proper carrier load tendering and shipment/ load record retention.
Respond to customer inquiries (email, telephone, etc.)
Troubleshooting distressed shipments, including transit, damage, shortage and lost freight
When requested, assist with research and resolution of freight invoice variations and billing issues to ensure correct carrier A/P and customer A/R
- High school and/or 1 year relevant experience
Experience in team-based environment
Experience in customer service environment and providing ongoing support to meet appropriate deadlines/requirements, problem solving, coordinating, and follow-up.
Experience in the transportation/logistics industry with a background in dispatch or customer service
Experience working in OTM application preferred but not required
A demonstrated professional service-oriented demeanor with the ability to handle customers via telephone with appropriate tone, diction and enthusiasm.
Basic PC workstation skills in Windows, Outlook mail, Excel and Word
Good oral/written communications skills
Knowledge of Dow business preferred but not required.
Ability to work overtime as needed
