Key Objectives/Deliverables:

The Sr. Manager - NALO has overall responsibilities for activities at the Enfield, CT site. Some of the key day-to-day responsibilities and deliverables include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage warehouse staff – assign tasks, ensure proper resource allocation

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the warehouse.

  • Receive pharmaceutical finished products, packaging components, and other purchased materials. This includes unloading trucks, verifying quantities received, and entering the receipt into SAP (if required)

  • Oversee replenishment/pick/pack operations to ensure accuracy and quality

  • Ship finished pharmaceutical products to wholesalers, sales representatives and physicians. Will also include shipping to other Lilly distribution centers.

  • Ensure customer service goals/commitment levels are met and that the right product gets to the right patient at the right time.

  • Engage contracting companies and coordinate interviews of all incoming operations personnel

  • Ensure staff compliance with all HSE regulatory commitments and SOP’s.

  • Enable strong, employee driven HSE culture

  • Ensure all contractors performing work on-site have met the safety requirements for Lilly HSE programs before execution

  • Understand and follow requirements as pertaining to Hazardous Communication, Hazardous Transportation and Hazardous Waste, as required by assigned training

  • Support environmental program by completing monthly and weekly EPA hazardous material generator quantity checks and container inspections, as required by assigned training

  • Investigating/implementing safety improvements, investigating incidents, implementing safety initiatives and action items.

Quality / Compliance

  • Ensure all warehouse activities are compliant with Quality regulatory commitments.

  • Understand and follow laws, regulations, Lilly RedBook, SOPs and Operational Qualifications related to Leader role.

  • If controlled drugs are stored and distributed from the distribution center, the role requires authorization to handle controlled substances.

  • Investigate operational events and drive implementation of appropriate countermeasures.

  • Serve as content owner for SOPs and Qualifications for operations area. Coordinate the development and maintenance of operational procedures.

  • Coordinate with the training department to ensure appropriate training curricula are maintained for operations personnel and that personnel are appropriately trained to perform job tasks at all times.

  • Ensure facilities and equipment are maintained in a cGMP manner and interface with maintenance and engineering group to ensure appropriate support.

  • Responsible for oversight to ensure his/her team is following SOPs and Operational Qualifications.

  • Coordinate with the engineering group and local contractors to ensure appropriate preventive maintenance activities are executed effectively and in a timely manner

  • Participate/Manage/Lead regulatory visits to the distribution center from internal/external agencies

  • Responsible for ensuring data integrity and good documentation practices while performing job tasks.

Security

  • Ensure personnel are following security requirements as outlined in facility SOP’s.

  • Coordinate with the training department to ensure appropriate training curricula are maintained for security operations personnel and that personnel are appropriately trained to perform job tasks at all times.

  • Oversee the security operations on a daily basis to ensure the integrity of the security systems, safety of the facility, its employees, and products

  • Manage contractor safety/security and operations when on-site at the distribution center to ensure proper adherence to Lilly policies

Financial / Productivity

  • Ensure budget commitments are met for the entire distribution center

  • Drive productivity initiatives for warehouse operations.

  • Manage ordering/invoices with local contractors (i.e, HVAC, Security Provider, Housekeeping, Maintenance, consumables, etc.) on monthly basis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in a technical field or at least 10 years of pharmaceutical distribution experience.

  • Leadership experience (technical or people leadership considered)

  • Must be willing to work a portion of the workday in a chilled environment (36-46F).

  • Standing, lifting (up to 40 lbs) and bending are required.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).

  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizing/multi-tasking skills.

  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to details

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results through people.

  • Microsoft Office Suite, SAP or distribution inventory management system experience a plus.

Additional Information:

  • Must be flexible and willing to be cross-trained to perform multiple assignments.

  • Willingness to work overtime with little notice.

  • Expected work schedule is 4 10's, Monday-Thursday with occasional need overtime on Friday's/Saturday's, subject to change with business need.

  • Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $87,000-$127,600 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).  Of course, the compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.  Further, Lilly reserves the right to amend, modify, or terminate its compensation and benefit programs in its sole discretion and Lilly’s compensation practices and guidelines will apply regarding the details of any promotion or transfer of Lilly employees.
