What you'll do The OR Tech II, under general supervision by the OR Manager/Surgery Center Manager is a member of the OR Team, working with surgeons, registered nurses, anesthesiologists, certified nurse anesthetists and ancillary support personnel whose primary function is scrubbing for surgical cases. Other functions include handling instruments, supplies, medication, media, specimens, and instrument cases. When fully trained the OR Tech II assumes responsibility for call. Demonstrates the assimilation of the principles of asepsis; and patient and staff safety in performance of duties. Responsible for managing the surgical field efficiently to assure minimal waste of supplies and equipment. Maintains supplies and equipment in assigned specialties. Demonstrates skills in scrubbing for all surgical specialties as measured by direct supervisory observation. Uses past clinical experience and knowledge to assist in solving immediate patient care problems as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. Works with ORT Coordinators to assist in implementation of new policies or procedures and provides support for those already established as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. Works with ORT Coordinators and Team Leaders to assure the procedure cards remain accurate as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. Assists in validating OR personnel in specialty equipment as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. Assists with the maintenance of inventory for assigned specialties as directed by ORT Coordinator or Team Leader as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. Uses supplies and institutional resources in a financially responsible manner as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. Ensures maintenance of all assigned specialty equipment as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback Works with others to identify budget/replacement needs of surgical specialty supplies and equipment as measured by direct supervisory observation. Actively participates in product, supply, and instrument evaluation with cost and quality considerations as measured by direct supervisory observation. Maintains an orderly, clean, and safe work environment and personal appearance as measured by direct supervisory observation and patient and/or co-worker feedback. Able and willing to teach new ORTs majority of specialties as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. Coordinates training with ORT Coordinator and Nurse Educator as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. Serve as a mentor and resource for other staff members as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. Assumes call duties as scheduled as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. Participates in staffing patterns that reflect variable demands in service as measured by direct supervisory observation. Behavior exhibits knowledge of skills, importance of teamwork and consideration of others. Demonstrates a positive attitude, uses flexibility and innovation while problem-solving as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. Demonstrates collaborative practice with all members of the healthcare team as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. Assists in evaluating new equipment and training policies as measured by direct managerial observation. Communicates with patients and coworkers using means to protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback Adheres to hospital policies with particular attention to protect patient's rights and confidentiality as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. Communicates necessary information to supervisor or team leader in support of unit, departmental and facility standards and policies as measured by indirect managerial observation. Demonstrates concern for culture of safety for patients and staff as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback. Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed. Performs other duties as requested and observed by supervisor or manager What we need from you Education: High School Diploma or GED, required Requires one of the following: Successful completion of a nationally accredited education program for surgical technologists and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization, OR Has completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, OR Provides evidence of employment as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring between 2011 and 2015; OR Is in the service of the federal government, to the extent the person is performing duties related to a Surgical technologist Received education in an accredited program for licensed practical nursing Experience: Minimum 2 years experience as a surgical technologist, required Minimum 1 year hospital experience as an OR Technologist, required Licensure/Certifications: Certification of Hospital experience as an OR Technologist, required BLS certification within 6 months from date of hire, preferred Skills: Clinical Skills Focusing Reading/Writing/Comprehension Attention to Detail Communication Accountability Interacting with People Listening Reliability Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects Occasional crouching, typing/clerical/dexterity, kneeling Frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, stooping, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking, fit testing Constant grasping, hearing, standing Hazards: Occasional burns Frequent radiation/radiant energy Constant bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure Working Conditions: Occasional odors Travel: No travel Total Rewards Bassett Healthcare Network’s commitment to our employees includes benefit programs carefully designed with the needs and values of all our employees in mind. This position is eligible for a sign on bonus up to: USD $15,000.00 Pay Range Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement. Pay Range Minimum: USD $22.40/Hr. Pay Range Maximum: USD $33.61/Hr.
