This is a competitive contractual position, which offers some state paid benefits.

Recruitment: The State Highway Administration (SHA) Office of Materials Technology is currently recruiting for anAdministrative Specialist I located Anne Arundel County. This is a contractual position that is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below.

This announcement may also be used for future vacancies throughout the state of Maryland for SHA.

Nature of Work: The main purpose of this position is to support the Office of Materials Technology in the performance of various responsibilities of the Human Resources Section. These duties include personnel transactions related to entry forms, reclassifications, leave and overtime information tracking, retirement information, record keeping and maintenance, payroll, and training. This position will perform intermediate level clerical duties and assist in the hiring and interview processes. Some of these duties include observing interviews, preparing and receiving pre interview forms, submitting Interview Summary Forms, consulting with Division Chiefs and other upper-level management while completing selection plans and job announcements. The HR Associate is also responsible for updating the Hanover Personnel Database.

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six months of experience performing clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

  1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

    1. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.
